Honor your father and your mother,
as the LORD your God has commanded you,
that your days may be prolonged
and that it may go well with you
on the land which the LORD your God gives you .
(Exodus 20:12, Deuteronomy 5:16)
Then He said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother.” And from that hour the disciple took her into his home. (John 19:27)
A mother suffers when her child is in pain. The life of Christ in me came to be because Mary allowed herself the be the bearer of this life.
Our blessed mother Mary stood at the foot of the cross where she saw His most beloved Son Jesus in His most painful ordeal. I really could not imagine how painful and sorrowful she is as a mother, looking at her Son crucified at the cross, soaking in blood, and in anguish. In deep sorrow, all she can say is "my Son" as she weeps. Such pain she carried, and continue to carry, each time she sees us in pain and in dire need of motherly care.
Today, I humbly honor the motherhood of our blessed mother Mary under her title as the "Lady of Sorrow". I have personally experienced Her motherly care each time I am being subjected to undergo a "tomotherapy (radiation) treatment" after I was diagnosed of having cancer. In praying the rosary while inside the "tube", I find strength and comfort knowing that she is with me, constantly interceding for my behalf. In a deeper sense, I have realized that during those periods of pain, she too is suffering in sorrow seeing me in that condition.
I believed that it is not about me but it is about the love of the Lord Jesus for her mother Mary that I was totally healed. She has placed her very own relationship with her Son knowing that He will never say no nor allow her to suffer as His mother.
Mama Mary, you are truly my mother! In the darkest hours of my life and all throughout my painful ordeals, you are always there beside me, caring for me, and lovingly comforting me with the assurance that you are constantly interceding to the Lord Jesus who is you Son, to heal me. Thank you so much for staying very close to me at a time when I really needed a mother most. I love you so much my dearest mother, my very own Mama Mary!
